There is no actual difference between Synapsa's and Bacognize's Bacopa extract. Or is it?

I'm posting the answer to a comment saying that Synapsa was different from regular bacopa extracts and that it has 30 years of research backing its effects. Here is what I answered:
But read this:
Contextual fear conditioning is a paradigm for investigating cellular mechanisms involved in hippocampus-dependent memory. Earlier, we showed that standardised extract of Bacopa monniera (CDRI-08) improves hippocampus-dependent learning in postnatal rats by elevating the level of serotonin (5-hydroxytryptamine, 5-HT), activate 5-HT3A receptors, and cyclic adenosine monophosphate (cAMP) response element binding (CREB) protein. In this study, we have further examined the molecular mechanism of CDRI-08 in hippocampus-dependent memory and compared to the histone deacetylase (HDACs) inhibitor sodium butyrate (NaB). To assess the hippocampus-dependent memory, wistar rat pups were subjected to contextual fear conditioning (CFC) following daily (post…

/u/MisterYouAreSoDumb would you please shed some light on this?

So it gets a bit confusing, as the industry standards for measuring bacosides are changing, and Verdure is the first one to make the jump. That's why people are suddenly seeing 12%, and freaking out. Nothing has changed with the extract. It's the analytical methods for measuring the bacosides that are being updated. So I'll give you a rundown.
Bacognize is an ethanol extract of the whole bacopa plant, which aims to maintain the exact ratios of ingredients to the standard plant. Its extract ratio is 10-20:1. It was standardized to 45% bacosides by UV-VIS. Verdure decided to update their standards to HPLC, as they are more accurate. This is why you see it listed as 12% now. That is a much more accurate number than UV-VIS.
Synapsa is a dual water/ethanol extract of the whole plant of bacopa. They to not state their extract ratio, but PLT aims to extract the most bacosides they can, and are not trying to maintain the natural ratio of ingredients. It's standardized to 55% bacosides by UV-VIS. They have NOT switched their analytical methodology over to HPLC yet. So while it does have more bacosides than Bacognize, it's not really 12% vs. 55%. It's more like 12% vs. 18%. However, the extraction methods used, and the growing techniques for the plants themselves, makes a big difference in effects.
CDRI-08 is literally the same thing as Synapsa. It's the exact same extract, just licensed to other companies for different brands (like KeenMind). There is even an abandoned trademark for "Synapsa CDRI-08" that they were going to use, but never followed through with. So if you see CDRI-08 in studies, it's the same thing as Synapsa.
The other extract out there is called BacoMind. It's standardized to 9 different compounds, including bacosides A and B. I considered offering that one as well. However, we are just going to come out with our own standardized version. We can do it better and cheaper ourselves anyway.
