Realistic risk of Bromantane (Ladasten)

Original post in this thread

So it seems like anytime a discussion of Bromantane comes up here, someone mentions a particular study as a reason to avoid it, of which the pertinent section is quoted below.

Marked (10-fold) increase in DNA-binding activity of SAA element of β-amyloid precursor protein (β-APP) gene promoter, which is normally involved in the organization of interneuron contacts and plays a key role in the pathogenesis of Alzheimer disease is worth noting.

It seems like most people are interpreting this as an entirely negative effect. From what I've read though, APP takes a crucial role in neural growth and repair. Could this not be part of its therapeutic benefit?

From my understanding, APP only becomes an issue in susceptible individuals, particularly later in life, when the beta amyloid peptides it produces can no longer be efficiently cleared away. This is pure inference, but it seems like the majority of users on this subreddit skew toward the younger side. So is this action of Bromantane even an issue for us younger folks?

Just looking to start a discussion with people who are probably far more knowledgeable than me on this subject.

I wish /u/misteryouaresodumb would address the reality (or lack thereof) of this concern. This should be in /r/nootropics, I disagree with the other commenter.

I have already addressed it, but the thread was deleted. So nobody saw it.
