Not sure where to ask: Why do nearly all adaptogenic herbs make me tired?

Hi everyone, sorry if this is a bad place for this question, I put it here because I know many of these herbs are considered natural nootropics.
So, I noticed when taking supplements containing rhodiola rosea, ashwagandha, schizandra berry, gotu kola, licorice root, etc., I feel VERY tired. I have also taken a premix that contained these along with l-tyrosine and I feel extremely sleepy every time I take it, sometimes feeling close to a 'depression' into the next day (if taken late in the day).
Exceptions are some ginseng and ginger root. Ginger, I feel no ill effects from and enjoy it in foods and supplements with no obvious issues. Ginseng seems to cause very mild stimulation, except for the Siberian variety, which again, makes me feel tired.
Any ideas on what's going on here? Thanks!

Sorry to bother you with another question but I'm having a little trouble dialing down the best dose for the sensoril extract. The brand I have is 250 mg of sensoril per capsule but it seems a little too strong (taken twice each day). For the customers you mention liking the sensoril extract (the ones with more severe anxiety), do you know what kinds of dosages they found to work best?

Our capsules are 125mg, as that is what Natreon suggests. 250mg would be too much for me too with Sensoril. I find higher dosages of Sensoril to be too sedating, while I can take 300-600mg KSM-66 without side effects.
Have you considered halving your dosage, or trying KSM-66?
