After taking minocycline, I only need to sleep for 7 hours instead of 9-10.

Recently, I got prescribed a regimen of minocycline for my acne. Before I began taking it, I felt like I needed 9-10 hours of sleep in order to feel rested, and worse... I still felt brain fogged. These past few days, I've been going to sleep at 12:00, which would normally mean I'd sleep until 9:00 or 10:00, but recently I've been naturally waking up at 7:00 AM without an alarm clock.
In addition, I have been journalling and noticed that my ideas have become more clear. Overall, there's less mental fatigue, and I am better able to follow along in class...
Is minocycline in any way a nootropic? I've read about it being a neuroprotectant and enhancing hippocampal memory, but I don't know why I'd have more energy and feel less mental fatigue throughout the day.

Some possible hypotheses I have so far:
-Minocycline is an antibiotic, so it might have wiped out the bacteria that were having a negative impact on my mood and energy levels.
-It is an anti-inflammatory (reducing microglia activation and inflammation) and neuroprotectant, so it might have improved my brain's ability to cope wi…

Actually, yes. Minocycline is neuroprotective, and improves memory in people with Alzheimer's. It seems to do this by reducing neuroinflammation and modulating micoglia activation.

Perhaps you have naturally higher Interleukin-6 levels in your brain, causing higher inflammation. So you need more sleep to recover from that. The Minocycline could be alleviating it, making you require less sleep in the process.
