There is so much head in the sand in this sub i figured it was time to post a collection of responses to false assumptions being used to minimize this things impact.
#Muh Medicines!
The NPS bill claims medicines are what is covered bby another bill. Note this is a definition of medicines, not any form of control. The control of medicines usually falls under the Medicines Act or The Misuse of Drugs Act.
Previously the Medicines act explicitly banned the sale of prescription only medication (POM) from EU countries to the UK. It made no reference to the rest of the world and therefore importation for personal use was **never illegal but never legal either there is a difference*
NPS closes this as unless you have a valid prescription and the product is classed as a medicine by the UK it falls under NPS. The main stand out example is Etizolam (benzo substitute used widely in Japan, never used in the UK) and a more dubious one is modifinal, which while used in the UK is prescribed for narcolepsy only.
Simply put no prescription = You are hit by NPS now as it closes the Medicines Act loop hole. Remember it only takes the DEFINITION of medicines from other acts not thier control…

I didn't know the UK was even part of the EU, given they still use the GBP (not that I blame them).

Well the EU and Eurozone are two different things. There is also the Schengen Area, which eliminates passports when crossing borders. So Eurozone are the countries that use the Euro. Schengen Area are the countries where you can freely cross borders. The EU is a political/economic union where the countries agree on policy and assist each other.
