Lion's Mane causing severe headaches... What the hell?

Original post in this thread

I've been taking Lion's Mane (Super Lion's Mane from MushroomWisdom.com to be specific) for about a week and a half. Three days ago I woke up with massive headaches and I've had them up until today. I only took half a dose yesterday and the headaches are completely gone today so I'm pretty sure it was the mane.

Day 1: "pulse" headaches throughout the day, always with a feeling of something moving in my nasal bridge or inside my head right before the pulse (I think it's blood vessels but I can't be sure)

Days 2 & 3: regular persistent headache with some pulses every now and then

I'm only taking it because I have HPPD and I've heard it helps. And it did for a while. My visuals are still there but the anxiety they caused was gone.

I'm looking for theories as to why this happened. I really want to keep taking lion's mane, not only to heal my HPPD but for the "3d vision" people report getting from it after taking it for a while. But the headaches are plain crippling, I even went to the doctor on the second day.

Did I order a bad kind of mane? I also take methyl-B12 and fish oil, perhaps it's interacting badly with one of those?

This is part of the wholesale price list for "Nammex", the supplier of mushroom powders that many companies repackage/encapsulate and sell for a huge profit margin

Replying to eclecticlove1 · So where do you get the powder for the 8:1 dual phase extract?

We have our own suppliers, just like we do for all our ND branded products. They make it to our specifications. Then we test them in our lab for ID, content, beta-glucans, heavy metals, and now residual solvent residues.

Why the lion's mane you're buying is probably bunk.

First off, our Lion's Mane is not a traditional water extract. The water is used to break down the chitin in the cell walls, but the entire mushroom material is kept in. So you don't lose anything that you would with a f

Is ND done launching new products?

We are absolutely NOT done with new products. We are in the thick of development for a bunch of them. Some of them are just taking longer than expected to get perfect, so we have had a lull in releases. That's just becau
