Does dlpa have strong chemical smell ?

I've just bought 250g from myprotein for 12$. I stack it with noopept. It has a chemical smell. It doesn't dissolve in water. Is it natural ?

Well it's not that bad, but compared to piracetam it definitely has a smell. Kinda musty maybe?

I could see it be described as a slight musty smell. It should be very faint, though. L-Phenylalanine is similar, but almost sweeter. There is a very faint difference between them, due to one being chiral, and the other only having the levorotory enantiomer. However, they should not have a strong chemical smell, or solvent aroma.
