This product is probably the first supplement I've seen openly marketed as a "memory enhancer" on prime time news channels. What do you guys think? Snake oil? Since the active ingredient is a protein, I'm a little skeptical that it can both survive the digestive system and penetrate the BBB.

Ingredients: Apoaequorin
Apoaequorin is a protein found in glowing jellyfish when it is bound to calcium ions. When the protein binds itself with the calcium ion, it produces the glow of the Aequorea victoria, a jellyfish with one of the simplest nervous system in the ecosystem.
People are selling a protein found in jellyfish, which causes photo-luminescence, as a memory enhancer? I just did some searching for peer-reviewed research on its use in memory enhancement, and I am coming up with nothing but patents for it in Prevagen, or marketing material. This seems like complete bullshit.
