Never forget that what we do is pretty cool

I was telling a friend about the nootropics community in general, and he reminded me of something I know I often forget when navigating stack building and trying new things:
We have one brain, and one brain only, and it's with us for our entire lives (along with our bodies, it's our only one permanent possession). And we're not complacent for it to exist - we tune it like a race engine, and tweak it until it runs as the very best version of itself. And that's freaking awesome.
So don't forget how amazing the nootropics movement is, and the edge that we can give ourselves.
Edit: some clarifications, as this has gotten mixed responses - I'm not saying noots are globally safe, nor that they're magic substances that turn us into Limitless-esque geniuses. I should have clarified when I posted, I meant more that the tinkering and risk taking to discover and test ways to better our brains, heal damage, and extend our limits is exciting, and, for some/most, fun. It's risky and untested, but I think that's part of what makes it such a great endeavor.

Depends what you are talking about. A Le Man's engine provides almost the same power as an F1 engine but run's the length of 16ish GP's in a single race.
Most clubman racers are only doing engine work after the season. You can tune something for reliability and speed if you want.
EDIT: just notices OPS name, /u/cstross is the actual Charles Stross if you want to talk to him on reddit.
