We started carrying it because people kept asking for it. It was developed at the University of Arizona, as a way to combat skin cancer in at-risk populations. It actually works very well. It provides very noticeable increases in melanin production. It also has other effects, like energy increases and aphrodisiac effects. MT-2 also improves insulin sensitivity and glucose tolerance. Also, the Melanocortin-4 receptor modulates synaptic plasticity in the hippocampus. So MT-2 could have beneficial effects on cognition. However, it is not really used for that purpose.
