How do you avoid the placebo effect when trying new nootropics?

I've had some trouble with trying to accurately identify effects of new substances, because I usually try them after reading about their effects. Any tips?

Not literally, of course.
Good, because I have personally found that blinding myself and screaming "THIS IS BULLSHIT" before taking my bacopa isn't very effective.

I am thinking about blinding my researchers when we start doing studies. We'll call it a triple blind study. No chance of placebo there!
