Does anyone know why adderall only works for me if I take Chelated Magnesium?
I can concentrate and focus and accomplish alot even on small doses of Adderall once I take Doctor's Best Chelated Magnesium.
It's like night and day.
Is it because of the NMDA receptor antagonist properties? My last lab results had magnesium as being in normal range.

So, sorry for my ignorance but, the dopamine receptors are responsible for the opening of the calcium channels without magnesium but with magnesium, they prevent calcium from binding and/or flowing through the channel?
How does that make it more effective? Because of tolerance?

Magnesium is a voltage-dependent channel blocker. It sits in the channel of the NMDA receptor, and blocks calcium from influxing, until the neuron depolarizes.
Take a look at this picture of the NMDAR that I modified.
You can see the magnesium sits in the channel, being held there by the charge of the neuron. Once the neuron depolarizes by the activation of the AMPA receptors, the magnesium block clears, and allows calcium to influx through the calcium channel.
Tolerance is very complicated, but is related to excess influx of calcium into neurons. This causes down-regulation of immediate early genes withing the neuron. That is what leads to long term tolerance to stimulants.
