Probiotics. Effects and side-effects? [Gut health tied to brain function]

While reading about gut being tied to mental health and brain capability, I became interested in probiotics. I thought this was spot on since my gut havn't been feeling very well for a long time, and I havnt done anything about it.
I've been taking Jarrows EPS dophilus for a week but today I'm feeling really bad. Not in my stomach, which been working way better since I've started, but all around in my head. Feeling really shitty emotionally, like a big rock of depression which just hit me. Been really low today with a lot of negative thought patterns. Now I dont know if it could be the probiotics, but I dont take anything else except Theanine/Caffeine.
Anyone got experience of probiotics to share/or how gut health affected your mental health? Both positive and negative. And most important: anyone felt they got depressed from it?

When I use my logic, and experience working within the supplement industry, I will tell you that if you truly believe that those products were refrigerated the entire time, from manufacturing, to storage, to transit, to storage, to transit to the final destination then that is pretty bad judgement. People within this industry will smile and tell you anything, there is no other industry like this one that is unregulated and covered in disinformation.
I have always recommended buying the highest CFU products of refrigerated ones, so that way at least a few are left after the transportation and storage. Have you ever been in the back of an eighteen wheeler in the summer? It is probably one hundred and twenty degrees. Supplement companies do not use refrigerated trucks so this also goes for things like protein and amino acids, which can be denatured with heat.
When it comes to probiotics, buying shelf stable products makes a lot more sense since they will undoubtedly be exposed to heat. As far as activating goes, this is rather interesting that a selling point for a probiotic would be releasing in the stomach.... which has a high Ph and kills these bacteria, so I'd say ensuring the bacteria get into the lower digestive system where they live is pretty important.

I purchased my refrigerated probiotcs from Walgreens, who had to special order it. The pharmacist told me that it is kept refrigerated in transit with the other prescription drugs that require it, and it placed directly into the fridge on arrival. I would hope the pharmacist is not lying, but I have no idea.
