Hey guys,

I found this subreddit a few weeks ago, and did the reading located in the Beginners thread, located here:

Anyway, I took that information and went out and purchased the OTC products Saint Johns Wort, Rhodiola Rosea, and Passiflora Extract.

I can't say I suffer from depression - I've never gone for diagnosis or treatment. What I can say is that I have suffered, for a long time, from the blues. Just a general state of being down, in a malaise, and being unmotivated to do anything about it. It's been a long time since I have seen beauty in anything, since I've felt turned on by a hobby, or since I really felt a connection to music.

I started rotating those products though, St Johns in the morning, Rhodiola with lunch, and Passiflora with dinner, and I've got to say - I feel better than I have in a long time. I'm making small talk with strangers, calling up friends and having conversations with them. I went to the beach today and sat in the sand and just stared at the ocean for a half hour as the sun set.

Small things make me smile, funny things actually make me laugh.

That's awesome that you have found a regimen that works for you! Depression is a very hard thing to deal with. It makes me happy to hear that you are starting to overcome it.

This is why all information should be made publicly available. There are things out there that can help so many people. The current system seems stacked in such a way that it encourages preventing the dissemination of that information. At least it doesn't encourage it. The more we help spread the knowledge we have collectively acquired, the better.
