Doubt cast on the benefits of omega-3 for the brain
What they were answering

There was a massive circlejerk between omega-3, the media and supplement makers. It was claimed to cure everything from heart disease to depression and had many studies to back it up.
Except the studies were so lopsided, piss poorly ran, biased etc etc. Dr Ben Goldacre covered it in his "Bad Science" columns and later in his book. The book is a must read for anyone intrested in medicine (all of r/nootropics in other words)
Now it looks like the media are pulling a u turn having pumped omega-3 for years. Guess they will move on to goji berries or paeleo diets or something.

Omega 3 is good for you. However, most supplements are not very good. You need high levels of DHA and EPA, and for it to be stabilized from oxidation. If it smells too much like fish, then it's not very good.
