Scientific sources for MDMA 1-3 month rule

I have seen people on this sub saying you should leave a gap of 1-3 months between taking MDMA. I have yet to see a credible scientific source for this rule. Can somebody post a credible scientific article to show me where this rule comes from?
Thanks

I know MDMA is neurotoxic. My question was about the 1-3 month rule. None of these studies say you will be better or worse off by waiting 2 weeks or 6 months. What logical steps are you taking to get form these studies that say MDMA is neurotoxic to the conclusion that 1-3 months is the best length of time between doses?

At various times after administration of the last dose of MDMA, the binding of [125I]MIL was measured. Acutely, treatment with MDMA (20 mg/kg) reduced specific in vivo binding of [125I]MIL in all regions of brain studied. For example, in the frontal cortex, specific binding of [125I]MIL was decreased by 80% at 6 hr and by 62% at 24 hr, after cessation of treatment with MDMA. Twenty-one days after administration of MDMA however, the number of binding sites for [125I]MIL was back to control levels.
So the number of 5-HT binding sites was back to control values within 21 days. Now that is in rats, so it will not translate directly to humans. However, it's studies like these that I based my reasoning off. There are some others, but I'll have to get them later.
This is just 5-HT binding sites, which is only part of the story. There is also tryptophan hydroxylase levels. I'll find those studies later.
