I know Americans could, I am vegetarian myself. But a majority wouldn't, this is even seen by the arguments made by redditor's.

But US meat consumption has declined for 4 consecutive years. Between 2006 and 2010, there was a 6% drop. It was the largest drop since records began. This is in contrast to the world meat consumption going up. We are eating less meat.
