Background
There have been a few discussions on the internet about PRL-8-53, but few have tested. The compound was first created in 1974 by Dr. N. R. Hansl. It is not structurally like anything that I know of, but I have very little knowledge of structures of nootropics. The compound is extremely under-researched and should only be taken with caution.
Mechanism of Action
Due to the drug being about 40 years old, the mechanism of action is most likely incomplete, but it seems to work in at least three different ways. Here is a quote from the study:
