Let's talk Lil Wayne and cough syrup

Original post in this thread

To be honest, I could give two shits about Lil Wayne I never really enjoyed any of his music. But after this media blitz about him seizing I'm very confused as to what people think "purple drank" is. Every story mentions codeine but does drinking too much codeine cause seizures? I've never heard of that side effect in anything labeled as an opiate.

Which brings me to DXM, NMDA receptor antagonists do lower your seizure threshold. I don't know what the laws are in the states but you can't buy codeine over the counter in Canada, so when someone says purple drank around here they usually mean robotussin.

So are these rappers actually robo-tripping instead of taking opiates? It just makes much more sense if you look at the lyrics of what they describe it as. Slang can be very innaccurate or make no sense whatsoever so are they drinking DXM and just saying codeine instead?

Lasts longer and hits harder, but that's because I'm able to take 7 grams or more without any real difficulty.

My typical dry-powder dose is around 4 grams. I can't stomach much more than that without getting nausea.

Mine is usually 5-6 grams. I mix it in grapefruit juice and can barely taste it. Then I eat a little something like 10min later to make sure my stomach can handle it. I made a tea once. It hit so hard, but was the worst tasting thing ever.
