Any reason to not pre-grind herb?

Is there a reason why I shouldn't grind a shitload of weed and keep it ready in fine vape-ready form?

It'll dry out more, but if you're vaping, that could be a good thing. Depends on your taste.

I wouldn't keep it in a plastic container though. I have no scientific explanation, but I've read plastic can react with THC and other cannabinoids and make them inactive. Grinding your weed increases the surface area which magnifies this effect. I and my friends have noticed this reduced potency.

If I'm wrong on this, or if anyone can tell me the exact way this works, I'd love to hear it.

THC is a lipophilic molecule and will bind to hydrophobic surfaces. This means that some of your THC will be absorbed into the plastic. The amounts will depend on the ambient humidity. Plastic is also more permeable to air, which will cause more of your THC to oxidize to CBN. I would suggest using airtight glass jars with as little air as possible. That will help preserve your weed for longer. If it's for short periods, plastic will not have too much of a noticeable effect.
