Dubai starts to look like Coruscant

Most of what you said applies to other countries as well. I lived in Austin, TX for 4 years for university and I've experienced all this: more homeless people than I can recall, I got hit by a sorority girl in her BMW because she was too busy texting, etc...
I do have to agree with you about the culture, but Dubai is a fairly new city. It still doesn't have much culture and the Bedouin culture isn't that prominent, however it's very much alive if you know where to look.
About the whole Muslim thing, I'm not a Muslim myself so all I can do is respect the religion of the country I'm staying in. Sure they have segregated cars on the metro, but does it really annoy you that much? Are you spending hours and hours on the metro every day?
Irish village is tons of fun. Clubbing and bar-hopping is one of the main nightlife activities present in Dubai, much like in any other metropolitan city. I don't know why you're surprised that Muslim men are out drinking and having a good time.
Also, he's not "my" prince. I'm an expat living in Dubai, not an Emirati.

I don't have a problem with Muslim law and culture (to a point). My point was that they are acting like they are keeping up with the Muslim rules, then going out and breaking them. It just adds to the vapid feeling of the place.

Because that is against Sharia law. I am not against them doing it. I drink and party all the time as well. I just recognize the hypocrisy of their actions.
And yes, there are douchebags everywhere. However, there was a very high douchebag to nice person ratio in Dubai from my experience. There are also homeless people everywhere too. However, the people in Dubai I am talking about are workers. They are the ones building the grand structures going up all the time. They are only homeless because they are being taken advantage of. It really cheapens a place when you know it was built on the backs of those that were taken advantage of.
