Why Is The Muslim World So Easily Offended?

What they were answering

Being Turkish, an ethnicity that has more in common with the West than the Muslim world, I like to compare what went right for us in history to make us civilised, and what went wrong for the rest of the Muslim world to make them fundamentalist.

1: We had the Ottoman Empire, we were never subjects of Europeans, in fact Eastern Europeans were our subjects. We soundly defeated European attempts at taking over our land (Turkish war of independence) once our empire crumbled. So we don't feel inferior to Europeans, our national psyche isn't "butthurt" for lack of a better term. This meant Islam was totally eradicated from public affairs, although the Ottoman Empire was already pretty much a constitutional democracy towards the end anyway. What this means is we democractised organically and from within ourselves, just like Europeans. We didn't have it imposed on us. But the rest of the Muslim world had it forced upon them when they were ruled by Western empires, so it was rejected.

3: Many Turks look white. I reckon the simple fact many of us look just like Europeans from a racial standpoint makes it easier for us to be friends with the West. It's easier to rel…

Replying to Toned_F · >a US led military strike on Iran would destroy every major offensive and defensive Iranian asset within days. You are incredibly misinformed. I don't even know where to begin wit

You completely missed my point. The US navy is irrelevant. If the US was going to strike Iran, their navy would be well out of striking range of Iran's defenses. Then submarine launched ballistic missiles would hit strat

The whole discussion about taxation and fairness is the problem. Look at the majority of comments on here. They are fuming and angry. An idea cannot be passed with anger, but must be brought forth with logic and reasonin

2500 year old ancient Phoenician port destroyed to build skyscrapers

Replying to eraserad · Let me call my buddy who's an expert on 2500 year old ports.

Yeah, definitely seen one of these before. If you look at the markings on the stone over there, you should see a carving of a cat sitting on a throne. This is definitely a fake 2500 year old port. Probably from the 1970'
