I used to work in Apple retail as well, and let's be honest, we all talked about the rumor sites and knew what rumors were good and which ones weren't. We also all knew the tendencies of releases in relation to the WWDC and past products. I could see myself encouraging someone to wait if I actually gave a shit about them. I never saw anyone fired for speculating either.
