This is possible. Dolphin (mammal) meat should be red, but fish meat is white. She would not have mistaken it for fish.

What? Ahi tuna is red, salmon is pink, red snapper is red and white. Are you sure that dolphin (porpoise) meat is red? I have no clue!

Perhaps they meant dolphin fish (Mahi Mahi). In many regions they just say dolphin. That's what I am going to tell myself at least.
