Microcrystalline Cellulose

Original post in this thread

How is the microcrystalline cellulose Sourced in these products?
Why is it necessary to include microcrystalline cellulose as a filler?
Is microcrystalline cellulose in all products from nootropicsdepot.com?

I found the following about microcrystalline cellulose:
"Our cells cannot stop the micro-nano particles from entering them, and once there, these particles, especially from cellulose from wood, which is what Microcrystalline Cellulose comes from, are not able to be absorbed, but float in and out of the cell membranes, and basically clog up tiny places in our bodies, bio-accumulating as we ingest more, and cause background inflammation to rise."

Otherwise it appears to be considered safe for the most part when I search Google. The quoted text in this post raises some concern, so I am inquiring for more knowledge.

Any company that says they don't use fillers in any of their capsule products is lying to consumers. Full stop. You can't accurately manufacture capsules without some form of filler or excipient. It's just how the encapsulation process works on the semi-auto or full-auto machines. In limited cases you might get lucky with the density and flow properties of a powder, if you have the tooling for lots of capsule sizes, but that is rare. You also lose the ability to ensure consistency and precision in the fills. We are VERY particular about our formulations. We have the most strict specs for active ingredient formulation out of anyone in the industry. Every single capsule of every single product we make will ALWAYS have at least what we claim on the label. For people in manufacturing, they will know just how difficult that is. We take into account assay ranges, water content, and machine tolerances in our formulations. This means we are always putting more than claimed in the products, because we account for worst case scenario on every capsule individually. To get that kind of precision, you need to have very tightly controlled formulation and processes. Choosing your fillers and excipients properly is the only way to do that, and ensure it is the same every single time. If we make ten million capsules of something in a year, you could randomly test any single capsule over that year, and it will be at or above our label claims for active ingredients. It's a massive pain in the ass to accomplish that, but I value that level of consideration.

You can find stupid articles like that on any number of things in this industry. Literally every ingredient has someone online saying it is unsafe. Magnesium stearate is one, even though every single person here consumes more magnesium and stearic acid every day in the food they eat than all the capsules they consume put together. Other fillers like maltodexrin are the same. We prefer to use MCC because it is inert in the body, stable in formulations, and flows well over machinery. There is no such thing as it bio-accumulating in the body, nor can it "clog up" tiny places in our body. That's just silly mumbo jumbo from pseudoscientific hacks online. They might as well say you become more wood over time after ingesting it. You turn into a paper mache human. That has just as much scientific evidence as their silly claims. Moreover, we have actually gone out and tested products from some of these brands saying they don't use "harmful and unneeded fillers" in their products, and we have found them in there anyway. These brands all use contract manufacturers to make their stuff. These contract manufacturers are just as annoyed at all the stupid BS spread around online, so many of them just keep formulating as they normally do, but telling the brands they are not using fillers. It's easier for them than explaining the science. It's fraud, but it happens every day in this industry. We don't. We always list everything in there, but I would be lying if I didn't wish I has less morals. It's exhausting having to address all these silly claims being made online by brands we know are just lying to everyone. It would be a hell of a lot easier to do what everyone else does, and just leave it off the label and lie to everyone, but that's not who we are.
