How often can you take Safforn?

Original post in this thread

HealingThroughMyPTSD · 22 points

I’ve recently started using saffron because it was recommended to me to try and help my mood. I have ptsd and deal with major depression and GAD.

I took one this morning and was happy but it wore off. I’ve been struggling again today and popped another one and feel happy again.

The bottle says I should only take one a day. Is there any limits I should know about to make sure I don’t go over? Is twice a day too often? I really like how it makes me feel and I’m able to smile again and all the thoughts of hurting myself have faded away. 🙌🏾

No but I just was recommended it by a trainer who told me it’s a game changer mood booster. I used to take safforn in a mix with a multi vitamin but it has never been this potent for me and made me this happy.

Instead of self harming my body by cutting, I took a second safforn capsule and felt amazingly happy for hours. My only side effect I’ve noticed is taking two a days gives me gas opposed to taking or a day!

Thank you so much! I’m not completely new to nootropics but I never knew they could help with my ptsd/depression!!

Glad to hear it is working! It's rapidly become one of our most popular products over the past few months. I take it every day now, as does my wife. I actually didn't really like our saffron at first. I would only try it in acute doses, and never dose regularly. Then after we released it, some of our customers told me to give it another try, but take it every day for a few weeks and assess how I felt. Regular daily dosing is key for me.

I actually got into nootropics because I went through a bad depression. This was almost 20 years ago now. I almost took my life, too. I hit rock bottom. I had two choices: finally end it, or work to pull myself out of it. For reasons I still don't fully understand, I chose the latter. In coming out of it, I started trying to understand how the brain worked, and how to improve it. I wanted to know why I went through what I did, and work to understand my own body/brain chemistry. This led me to the early days of nootropics, where I jumped right in! I've spent pretty much every day of my life since trying to expand my understanding of the human brain, and find ways to enhance it. Part of that has been trying to force positive change in the industry as well.

Mood is a very bit part of cognition. When you are depressed, your memory suffers and a part of your brain (the hippocampus) literally atrophies. Having a good mood is more crucial to improving cognition than most people think. Plus, what is life if we can't enjoy experiencing it? So mood research and improvement has been a big part of what we have focused on over the years. There is also a phenomena called mood-dependent memory that everyone experiences, but many people don't think too deeply about. It's the facilitation of accessing memories when your mood at retrieval is the same as your mood was at encoding. I'm sure you have had different memories flood in when you are in heightened states of mood before. When you get angry, you have memories pop up from other times you are angry. When you are happy, you have memories come in from other times you were happy. The reason for that is that when you form memories, your brain is not only encoding the basal level visual and auditory data. It's also encoding the emotional data in other brain regions, like the insula, insular cortex, and amygdala. When memories are stored, these neuronal connections are a formed that connect these brain regions. It's the same reason certain music or smells can set off memories, or affect your mood. So while many people might consider cognition/memory a completely separate thing than mood, it's really all linked. This means that if you truly want to improve your cognition, you have to not neglect your mood. Happy people are smarter people!

Yep! We are similar. My issue is with every day dosing or too high of a single dose. One of our capsules 1-2 times a week works fine for me, too.
