GABA is a huge surprise to me. I didn't think ND would entertain bringing it out. I checked the product and there's nothing unique about it. It is bog standard GABA so I wonder why they choose to release it? Their market research must have indicated there's a market for the product. I don't get it but whilst it isn't for me I imagine maybe some others will get benefit from the product.
I've still to look at the other releases but I will be reading about those now!

Honestly, I unfairly wrote off GABA for basically the past decade. Sometimes I can have blinders on, too. I figured it was a worthless supplement because of the blood brain barrier issue, and I never even tried it. Recently, we were going through some research on passionflower, and some novel extraction techniques that we were trying to make work on it. What we learned from some of that research was a variability in the amount of GABA in the extracts using various processes. This got me thinking that my position on GABA was not coming from a place of knowledge, but from a preconceived bias I held against it because of shit I read online about in years and years ago. That's not how someone that values facts and science should operate, so I decided to get a sample of GABA in to try out in different scenarios. After testing it a bunch, I realized it actually had positive effects. It was stupid of me to blindly write it off all these years without even trying it, so we decided to offer it.
Does this mean it does cross the blood brain barrier? Well maybe, maybe not. It's always more complex that we initially think. The permeability of the BBB is not static. It can change, and often that can be affected by things in plants like flavones, anthocyanins, polyphenols, etc. This means that GABA might pass the blood brain barrier easier when in combo with certain plant extracts, like passionflower. Then you have the peripheral mechanisms through the gut-brain-axis, too. On top of that, you have metabolites of GABA that can pass the blood brain barrier, and then convert back into GABA. There is a lot of potential ways GABA can be acting centrally. I think this is one that will be cool to add into various stacks, and see how it can affect the effects of those stacks. One that I think people should consider is Vignatex and GABA. Our Vignatex has passionflower in it, but it can be a bit too stimulating for some people. Adding GABA to the mix can smooth that out, and make the effects much more balanced for those people. GABA is a potentially useful supplement that I have been unfairly overlooking for too long.
