This is why I love you guys. 99.9% of companies would call it good, capsulate it, and sell it.

In the multiverse, there is another version of me that just says "fuck it" and sells shit. That version of me is much less stressed, I guarantee it!
Seriously, I don't think people really realize that the bulk of our overhead is all the systems, processes, lab, and quality control people that it takes to ensure the standards we hold, and the consistency batch-to-batch across hundreds of products. Our lab department has more employees than any other department now, and these are not entry level employees. Just the maintenance contract on one of our UPLC-MS machines is $20,000 per year. We have a machine that filters our compressed air we use to run machines, and that has its own maintenance contract! People fly in from all over the world to maintain and work on our equipment. The cost and complexity of it all is staggering! Those are just the direct costs, too. The costs of holding product back that we still need to solve the science on is a whole other beast. At any one point in time, we have hundreds of thousands of dollars in product that we have paid for, but are not yet selling, due to some quality control or lab testing issue. Not to mention the opportunity cost of choosing to not sell certain things because I am not yet comfortable with the data. If people knew the real costs of all that we do, and knew the complete lack of costs and disregard our competitors have, they would get why I am always so riled up!
