Any information on how this applies (or doesn’t apply) to ND’s ALCAR?

TMAO is created by gut bacteria metabolizing things like carnitine and choline in the large intestine. The issue with taking normal L-carnitine is that only 14-18% gets absorbed through passive transport, with the rest being broken down by the gut microbiome. That's where the TMAO can be created. ALCAR is able to absorb through active transport, though. This should result in less risk of your microbiome metabolizing it into TMAO.
Hmmm any idea about Carnitine Tartrate?

L-carnitine tartrate is just a salt of carnitine and tartaric acid. It will dissociate in solution in the GI tract, so it will act similarly to regular L-carnitine once it hits the large intestine.
