Cordyceps 10:1 vs 1:1

Original post in this thread

Another poster asked this question about a year ago but didn’t get an answer. What’s the exact difference between these two? The article on their website says the 10:1 has twice as much cordycepins but 10:1 only has .3 and the 1:1 has .2 Does this mean the 1:1 would be better cause .2 of 500 is 100 and .3 of the 10:1 250mg dose is 75. Any clarification would be nice.

What they were answering

Thank you for the response. Just based off the labels it makes it seem like they are the same with the 1:1 being superior since it’s 500mg per dose with 25% beta glucans and .2% cordycepins and the 10:1 having a 250mg dose with only 20% beta glucans and .1 more cordycepins than the 1:1 blend. But if I’m understanding you correctly you’re saying there’s a bunch of other “stuff” and ratios involved in both blends that result in the different “results”?

Plants and fungi are much more complex than just X% of a single active. We list the cordycepin, because that is what everyone assumed was the main active. However, we also knew our 10:1 felt stronger to most people, so we have been trying to figure out why for a while. We've been doing a lot of research, and a lot of R&D in our lab. We think we have finally solved it, but we want to validate that data before we say 100% for sure. Once we validate it, things should make a lot more sense on the stimulation side of things. Everyone has just been looking at the incorrect active compound forever, and nobody has thought to question it.

I can open up a whole other can of worms on beta-glucans. We have done a lot of lab work there, too. There are different types of beta-glucans, and we think there is a limitation of the current Megazyme methodology that needs to be accounted for. To put it simply, the chitin in the cell walls of a mushroom will show up as a beta-glucan in the Megazyme method. This means that our 1:1 powders that don't discard any mushroom material will show higher beta-glucan numbers than the extracts that discard the material. This is because chitin is not soluble in water or ethanol, so it gets taken out of extracts. This means that the more concentrated extracts appear less concentrated. However, that's just the loss of the insoluble chitin. They actually have more of the beneficial beta-glucans we want, but the current Megazyme methods can't tell the difference. We have been working on a way to solve that, but the chemistry is actually more difficult than it sounds. We will solve it, but it is going to take a lot of lab work. The medicinal mushroom side of this industry is in its infancy, to be honest. So much more science needs to be done to bring it up to the same level as botanicals. I literally had to build our own analytical lab, and hire PhD chemists, to start to solve some of these things. It's been years of work.

In simple terms, the 10:1 will be more potent. That's not because of cordycepin, but another compound related to it. Once we validate all our data, we will start reporting that number as well, and also publish our findings. Once we solve the beta-glucan issue, we will also publish our findings on that, too.

Yes, we have a lot in the works. This includes improved/different versions of the mushrooms we already carry, like cordyceps, and some new species of mushrooms that nobody is really talking about. 2023 will be a very goo

My cordyceps congealed! Any way to rescue it? I haven’t gotten any water in it, I changed out the desiccant packets, but now it’s become a gooey lump. My Red Reishi purchased in the same order is still a powder, stored in the same conditions. What’s going on?

Holy crap! Water got in there somehow. Where was it stored?

Cordyceps Dosage Changing?

We originally had the dose the same between the 1:1 and 10:1 extracts. We decided that 250mg was a more appropriate dose for the higher potency 10:1 extract, which is why we made the capsules 250mg. So we switched it on
