WTH is the reason I need to show a copy of a utility bill to place an order on your site?

/u/MisterYouAreSoDumb I tried placing my first order on your website yesterday and everything seemed ok. I got a confirmation email that it was a success and everything so i didn't think about it again. I checked my email right before bed and saw I had an email that verification was needed, whatever, no big deal it's not the first time. Then I read the email I got. I'm supposed to send a picture of my ID, my credit card (oh I just need to block out some of the numbers cause that makes it safer!), and a copy of a utility bill?! WTF I'm not trying to get a loan for a car here! I get that you're trying to protect yourself from fraud, but asking a customer to send all of that seems fishy, and that you say it's going to some third party not even you guys, I would have felt better if it was going to you guys, but I'm supposed to do all of this and then inform your customer service that it was done so they can go check? First of all who the hell is this third party I'm supposed to send all my info too, and second according to the email I had an hour to do this or my order would be canceled. Yeah, dude was a student at Ohio State University, and was using stolen credit cards to scam us for his raw materials. Then he would post on his social media that he was an entrepreneur grinding and hustling to make his dream come true. LOL, yeah... hustling to potentially put a bunch of honest people out of work with his fraud. We had a private investigator look into him to see if it was worth filing a lawsuit, but he didn't own anything. Dude was broke. It would have been a waste of time and money to sue him. I just looked him up again. I guess he moved to El Salvador to live in a cryptocurrency community... You can't make this shit up!
Ohh, I just remembered something hilarious. When our attorneys sent him a cease and desist, he started asking OUR ATTORNEYS for legal advice in the emails back and forth! LOL
