LOL, there's no BPA!!!
The stickiness is one thing that has annoyed me as well. It's something that I have been trying to rectify for years. However, we didn't have a solution till recently. It actually came from our quest to bring Natrium labels in-house. Natrium labels are printed on a foil backing, which is why certain elements have a metallic shine through them. We can't print on foil with our existing pigment-based printers. Our existing printers also have to print on UV-coated label stock, which is where that sticky/tacky feeling is coming from. It's the gloss UV coating that the pigment-based ink sits on top of. It gives nice colors and protects the labels from fading with UV exposure, but you get that sticky feeling when the moisture from your hands hits it. Till recently we had no real way to fix it without going matt instead of gloss for our labels. Plus, the way pigment ink sits on top of the labels just kind of acts that way.
Luckily now there is a new toner-based printing system that can do what we need! This new system will not only allow us to migrate Nootropics Depot's labels to a non-UV stock that won't be sticky anymore, but it will allow us to print on foil for Natrium labels. It can even print on clear labels, and we can use white toner to do interesting designs that the other printers just can't do. So we have ordered those printers, and will be migrating over to them as we wind down our existing label stock. So FINALLY we will have nice glossy labels for ND without the stickiness. It's been something I have been trying to solve pretty much since we moved to the printers we have been using the last few years. It sounds like an easy thing to solve, but it really is not in the real world. So I am excited about these new toner-based printers!
