Piracemta Kg for $99.99???

Original post in this thread

Is this price temporarily? If not, since when did Piracetam's price rise 50% its original price? I remember it wasn't that long since it used to cost around $60... Maybe the last time I saw it for around $65?

Piracetam 1kg was $89.99 before. The increase to $99.99 is an 11.1% increase. It hasn't been in the $60's for almost 2 years, just before the start of the pandemic. That was before we went out of stock for a year because of shipment seizures. The price has drastically risen since then. We have absorbed some of the cost increases, but we can only absorb so much. So not only does it cost more now, but our margins are thinner. You can thank the out of control inflation for that. The bulk of the cost increases are coming from two sources: massive increases in shipping costs and tariffs. The tariffs are fucking bullshit. I had hoped that Biden would remove them when he got into office, but turns out he doesn't actually care about limiting inflation. We are still paying over 30% tariffs on most raw materials, and those costs have to get passed on in the form of price increases. He could remove those tariffs today by executive order if he wanted to. I think we all just have to admit he doesn't want to. They are not dumb. They know these tariffs are leading to a lot of these retail price inflations. I guess they just don't care.

The other massive part is the shipping. This will really piss you off. Shipping has gone up by insane amounts since the pandemic started. Before the pandemic, the cost of shipping a 40ft container from China was $2,000-$3,000. Last month the costs to ship that same container topped $25,000!!! This increases the cost per kg on ingredients massively. That percentage is huge for lower cost things. Look at creatine prices. They have to double or triple in price just in a matter of months. It's out of control! Want to know the most infuriating part? It's not that these shipping companies are having tons of extra costs they have to pass on. They are increasing profits because they can, which just goes to their profits. Shipping companies are making record profits right now...

https://www.cnn.com/2021/11/02/business/maersk-record-profit-supply-chain-chaos/index.html

The surging cost of shipping propelled Maersk's profit before taxes and interest to $5.9 billion and sales to $16.6 billion in the third quarter, the Danish company announced Tuesday. That's the best performance for both sales and earnings since Maersk was founded in 1904.

So they are literally raising shipping prices merely because they can. They are capitalizing on the pandemic and supply chain issues that they have partly caused to make more profits. It's infuriating. So we have to deal with increased raw material costs, tariffs on top of those increased costs, then massive increases on shipping costs. I had hoped this shit would start getting better by now, but it is literally just getting worse by the day. Some of our suppliers are having multiple cost increases in a single month. Our domestic shipping has increased twice this year alone, which was a 22% increase. So we are being hit with significant increases on freight coming in, and then significant increases on packages going out.

So is this all temporary? Well if you ask the Federal Reserve, yes. However, I don't much believe our government right now. From what we are seeing in the background, this shit is getting worse and worse every day, and I don't see it getting better anytime soon. I think we are seeing permanent inflation that will stick around for a while. I just don't see many scenarios where this all falls back down to values close to before the pandemic. I just hope we can stop the increases soon, as they will become unworkable from a cost standpoint if it keeps up this pace.
