Lemon balm and magnolia bark not sedative at high doses. Alternatives?

Have ND's lemon balm and magnolia bark tablets. Neither of them seem to provide a sedative effect even at high doses. Max dose of lemon balm was 4 grams (8 tablets), and after taking the tablets upon early waking around 1am, they just baaaaarely threatened to put me to sleep a couple times. The calming and mood improving effects are nice, though. I've also tried oleamide with no success, and so far ND's melatonin isn't cutting it at doses from .3-.9 mg.
Is there anything left to try? For sleep support in general, but especially those situations where a night's sleep could use rescuing in the middle of it.

Both of those things have parabolic dose/response curves. Lower doses are sedating, which turns the opposite at a certain higher dose. Each person is different for where that it, but higher doses almost always have a stimulating effect for people. Sometimes more is not better.
