FedEx issues in Arizona - Expect delays!

Just wanted to throw out a little warning for anyone ordering right now through FedEx. I ordered some stuff on the 19th and it's been updated 9 times. Every time they update it, it shows its still in Phoenix. Tomorrow will have been a week (using 2 day shipping).

After some digging I found out that they are at a near stand still in Arizona right now. Not sure why exactly but tons of delays. I am on the east coast so maybe other locations will have better luck with shipping times.

Yep, it is a shit show. I actually got on a call with an executive from FedEx today. They are a director over the Southwest region. We are a larger customer of theirs, and we were basically screaming at them over these issues, so they got on a call with me to explain the situation. So what happened was described as a perfect storm of events. The snow storms hit their Memphis hub bad, which is the main FedEx hub for the US. Now that would not be such a big deal because of their contingency plans, but the backup hubs that would have taken the load also got hit by storms. The Philly, Houston, and Portland hubs all got hit, too. This has never happened before. He said that in their Memphis hub that only 8% of the staff showed up. That's not because they didn't want to. The roads were all snowed in, and the buses couldn't get there. So what happened was they held the packages up in the plane loading area here in Phoenix, because they would not be able to be unloaded in Memphis. So that is where some of them are sitting right now while they clear the backlog. We are getting on another call with them tomorrow. They have assured me that they have 3 dedicated planes that will be landing in Phoenix tomorrow and Saturday to clear the backlog.
Trust me, I am doing everything in my power to make sure this shit is taken care of. There is not much I can personally do, but I am putting pressure on the people that can. We have hundreds of customers writing our support right now. Thousands of our customers are affected. Tons of irate people saying they will never use us again, and giving us 1 star Google reviews. I really do understand people's frustration, but know that we are doing everything in our power to force FedEx to fix things as quickly as possible. My team should be sending out an email to everyone affected tomorrow with some of these details, and likely a few more. I am just going off of memory from our call today. My strategic director is writing the detailed email with all the specifics. I promise you that I will keep putting pressure on the higher ups at FedEx until the backlog is cleared and we are back to normal. They have been a good partner for us through the pandemic, and it is unfortunate that these storms just happened to hit their hubs at the same time. I will make sure everyone gets their packages, even if we have to reship them. They assured me those planes will be clearing the backlog this weekend, but if that doesn't manifest I will make sure we get another solution working quickly.
