Might have been this study
https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC4082882/
The results state if I'm reading it correctly, mentions nearly 20% also mentions variants of cyp1a2
The title states a significant effect so I'm not sure if the two studies are the same with the ones you linked and this one

Ohh wow, that one is interesting! So it does significantly inhibit caffeine metabolism, but it is not related to CYP1A2. The study I posted was specifically looking at CYP1A2. So if it is not affecting that pathway, but modulating caffeine metabolism through another, it would not have seen that.
