I'm sure you have already used the extract. So my question is: when is the best time to take it (the shoden)? I first tried ashwagandha when I bought root bark and made tea with it, which I drank before bed, which gave me really good sleep. Then, when I talked about it to my father, he got interested and bought an extract from Biovea. I took it for a while, and it seemed less effective than the root bark tea. Then when I discovered Nootropics Depot, I also discovered KSM-66 and sensoril, which I both tried. My body really didn't agree with sensoril; it made me restless. I had great hopes with KSM-66 since it was made only from the roots, so I thought it would be similar to root bark tea, but everytime I took it before bed I could barely sleep that night. So I ended up giving up on ashwagandha, thinking it wasn't good for me. But I really liked the effect of the root bark tea; on top of making me sleep really good, it made me horny with incredible erections and orgasms. I wish I could find an extract with the same effects. Now that I'm working out again maybe I could try taking KSM-66 in the morning and expect to get benefits without it ruining my sleep. Better than waste it. Been opened, in my cupboard, for at least 2 years, but it probably still is good.
Damn that ended up longer than expected.

I actually think KSM-66 is better for the daytime. I get more energy from it, while also a sense of calm. It is similar to Cyracos for me. That also gives me some energy, while calming me; whereas our 10:1 lemon balm helps me sleep. So different extracts of the same plant absolutely can be totally different than expected.
Shoden is one that sedates me more than KSM-66, but not in a sleepy way. I don't actually like ashwagandha for sleep myself. This is why it is not in our Sleep Support. You might be similar to me. If you are just looking for sleep, I would suggest lemon balm instead. I think ashwagandha's effects on testosterone and cortisol can make it have some effects that might not lead to the best sleep for some people. It just depends on the person, though. I've had some of my employees react the complete opposite to me for some things. So it just depends.
