Wait, there’s different types of withanolides? Or am I just understanding wrong?

Yes, tons of withanolides. The USP monograph for ashwgandha only looks at 8 of them, but there are around 40 in there. So when you see 5% withanolides, that is usually saying 5% of those 8 that USP looks at. Even those 8 all have different effects from each other. So rather than just combining them, we bought all the reference standards individually so we could separate and quantify them as individual things. That's expensive, though. It was $3,500 just for the reference standards, and those only last a little while before you have to buy more.
