NMN test for content and purity
Original post in this thread

With reports of people being scammed by unscrupulous sellers of NMN online, is there a way to test if the product actually is NMN and what purity level it is? Are there any assay kits I can buy from the Sigma Aldrich's of the world? I don't mind spending a few hundred dollars for a kit that can be used multiple times since NMN is expensive, but I don't want to spend thousands to send a single batch to a QA lab for HPLC testing.

You could do a quick and dirty test for ID with something like a Raman or FTIR. Those would still be at least a few grand, and you would need the spectral database to compare to. The low end models are not very accurate, either. So it is not really feasible, but you could do it. Assay? No way. There is no way for an individual to do a content or heavy metals assay. For that you need HPLC/UPLC and ICP-MS. Then you need someone qualified to run it, the methods to do it, reference standards, and all the columns and solvents specific to those methods. There is no such thing as a kit to test ID or assay of things. Your only option as a consumer is to buy from a brand that is doing the proper tests.
