Reishi Spore Oil and hormones
Original post in this thread

Hello!
I read that ND Reishi spore oil is supposed to be quite potent, though I have not tried it yet, I wonder whether it has the same side effects of Reishi as well. I am mostly concerned about the effect on hormones and DHT. I don’t feel like manipulating my levels right now so I wondered, considering that this extract is high in active ingredients...

I have not noticed any effect on hormones from the LucidiSPORE. The DHT inhibiting effects only arise from two specific triterpenoids. They are ganoderic acid DM and 5α-lanosta-7,9(11),24-triene-15α,26-dihydroxy-3-one. That last one doesn't have a name yet. Interestingly enough, the methyl ester form of ganoderic acid DM did not show that effect. So the carboxyl group is key to it having those affinities. So far, those two have only been found in ethanol and ethyl acetate extractions of the fruiting bodies. They have not yet been seen in extracts from the spores. That doesn't mean they are for sure not there, though. That just means we have not seen them yet. We are going to be doing some more advanced chemistry on all the reishi forms soon. Identifying and quantifying ganoderic acid DM will be a part of that.
