Not as good a sale as I expected. The exchange rate and shipping sucks for non - Americans.

These are the biggest discounts we give all year, and we only have a sale like this twice a year. We actually only just started our summer sale this past June. Before that, Black Friday/Cyber Monday was our only sale a year. I prefer to just set reasonable pricing and keep things as consistent and steady as I can. I like when things are easy and consistent. Sales completely throw our whole system out of whack. It was months of planning just to make enough inventory for this sale, and it was all hands on deck in the warehouse to get the orders out. I actually hired new warehouse employees just to prepare for the volume of shipments. It may look like a simple sale to customers from the outside, but it is a huge logistical challenge from our end.
We were giving crazy discounts on the Natrium Health site, though. 40% off across the board is the biggest discount I have ever given on any of my companies.
As for exchange rate, we can't really control that. When the US dollar was weak, it was better for international customers buying from us. However, anything we bought from outside the country was more expensive for us. Some of our production equipment was made for us by a company in the UK. We got quotes for it in GBP, then the Brexit vote passed and GBP fell like crazy. So we got a discount when it came time to actually pay in GBP using our USD. We couldn't exactly plan for that, though. Canadians were buying up houses here in Phoenix like crazy after the 2008 crash, when the USD was weak but the Canadian dollar was strong. They were effectively getting half off or more. It was crazy!
