Bad first Aniracetam experience. Never touch again or try different combinations?

My previous and first experience of Aniracetam was the old Mind Nutrition Neurostim blend that they used to sell consisting of roughly 400 mg Ani, 250 mg DMAE and 10 mg Vinpocetine. I had a sample of this blend and experienced amazing benefits a few years ago.

Recently, I got some Aniracetam from ND and took a first 750 mg dose following a workout and a breakfast consisting of 3 eggs and vegetables.
This initial dose impaired my thinking, reading comprehension, I was tired, foggy, had neck tension and a headache for a good 4-5 hours. Subsequently I bounced right back up to my baseline levels of mental energy and clarity.

At his point, I'm conflicted: several threads with similar experiences exist on the subreddit, and the advice is inconsistent: "never touch it again", "you're dosing too much", "take less choline", "don't take choline again", etc.
Has anyone had a bad first experience and manage to turn it around? I think I'll try it again. Seems rather silly to buy a whole bottle, take 1 capsule and then throw it away.
If anything I'll document my results here but I'm very interested in hearing about similar experiences.

Thanks for the detailed reply! Very insightful.
These are actually concepts that I've encountered in my pharmacology degree so far, though my knowledge is still very limited and I had no idea that drugs can be both water and lipid soluble. So it's clear to me now that this idea had no scientific backup to it whatsoever.
The Piracetam has been great so far. The first couple of days it gave me a slight headache and mild "fuzzy" feeling which I powered through. Now it seems that it has kicked in to a certain degree, the most noticeable effect by far is a lower tendency to lose a train of thought or to be distracted when completing a task (e.g. more likely to finish reading a complex paragraph than I'd be without it).
You've mentioned that it doesn't require a build-up in the body due to a lack of protein binding. Would that have any correlation with how it seems to elicit its effects? Most anecdotal reports mention a period of 2-3 weeks necessary for the full benefits to arise. That would suggest that sporadic dosing isn't the ideal way to take it.
Edit: though it works well now and any side effects have vanished, an interesting experience I had earlier this week is consuming some potassium from two bananas. Woke up, took 2.4 g Piracetam, 30 min fasted cardio, came home feeling great, sharp and focused, had 2 bananas to break my fast > fuzzy, out of it feeling came back. I…

Building up in the body and building up effects are two different things. The buildup in effects is likely a downstream mechanism from piracetam's direct effects. So while it does not build up levels in the body, the actual effects can build over time.

Woke up, took 2.4 g Piracetam, 30 min fasted cardio, came home feeling great, sharp and focused, had 2 bananas to break my fast > fuzzy, out of it feeling came back. I'm aware there's a link between piracetam and potassium which boosts aldosterone production. But that's apparently supposed to boost Piracetam.
That could be from the sugar. It might be affected by the potassium, but the fact that you were in a fasted state and ate two bananas would have me immediately think insulin is the culprit.
