5HTP works better without ECGC?

Ok, so 5HTP does wonders for me. I sleep much beetter, am much more refreshed after sleeping "only" 6 to 7 hours and have a better mood the following day. Normally I need to sleep much more for much less refreshed feeling.
But this does not happen when I take ECGC, I wake up and feel like usual - actually sleeping is much harder than. And I take 200mg of 5HTP, approx. 30 minutes before sleep. So, what is happening?
I got once Trazodone prescriped to help with my sleep and because its a slight mood booster, but even taking jsut 25mg is like super killer as I wake up groggy, sleepy and with the driest cottonmouth.
Still tho, I'm a little bit anxious because I dont want to hurt my heart by taking this much 5HTP without ECGC - but maybe nothing is happening?

Why are you taking 5-HTP for sleep? It's the melatonin you are after. The 5-HTP converts to serotonin, which then converts to melatonin, which then regulates your sleep cycle. Why not go right to a low dose melatonin and forget about the two rate-limiting enzymes in the way? Or if you want to keep them in place, take bacopa to up-regulate tryptophan hydroxylase, which will create more 5-HTP naturally.
