NAC Made My Hangover Worse

Original post in this thread

So I'd read several blogs suggesting that NAC be taken before drinking and several times throughout the night while drinking. Boy do I regret it. I drank about maybe 50% of what is my capacity, meaning I should have had a moderate hangover at worst. I ended up with the worst hangover of my life. Literally did not recover until almost bed time the following day, and was still feeling effects into a second day of hangover.

Having done some reading I feel my mistake was taking it before, during and after drinking. I'd like to try it just before drinking, but honestly I'm a little gun-shy right now. Would love to hear others' experiences.

You just have to take it before drinking. Taking it during and after can definitely make things worse. Just a single 500mg dose before is best.

That being said, I've actually started preferring Emoxypine for drinking. You can take it either before or after, and it works very well. Pair it with Magnesium Glycinate, a B complex, and water, and you are good to go. It also makes me more lucid while drinking, which is nice.

Na-R-ALA is good too. That's not as time-dependent as NAC. I've also had good results going all-natural, and using Pomella, cordyceps, and white jelly mushroom extracts. Those are very good liver-protectors/antioxidants. The energy boost from the cordyceps is nice, too.

Replying to 3ric843 · It was my case, I hadn't been sick for about 5 years, until February this year, where I tested positive for covid. I felt tired for a few days. Then I tested positive again 3 weeks
