Most bioavailable form of Magnesium except of Magnesium L-Threonate?

I've recently read that post, which says Magnesium L-Threonate can enhance long-term memory by upregulating NMDA receptors after continued use. This is said to be due to the exceptionally high CNS bioavailability of Magnesium L-Threonate.
The problem with this form of Magnesium is that it has a high price tag because it's patented, so I'm looking for another very bioavailable Magnesium in the CNS.
I've heard Magnesium Glycinate has a very good bio-availability, but that it's a bad option since the Glycine bound to the Magnesium can prevent Magnesium's voltage-dependent actions at the NMDA receptors. Is it true? Does Glycine really impair Magnesium's action on NMDA receptors?
I've heard that Glycinate is superior to Citrate which is superior to Oxide.
Is Magnesium Glycinate the closest to L-Threonate in CNS bio-availability and cognitive improvement, then?

Magnesium Malate is another chelated form. It's about the same price as Glycinate and works way better for me, especially for sleep.
Malic acid itself is said to help with fibromyalgia and muscle cramps, so that's a bonus. As with Glycinate, try to go for a non-buffered version.

I use magnesium malate too, along with glycinate and L-Threonate. The malate works well.
