Does Vitamin B megadosing do any more than an average dose?

I ask this since some energy shots (5 Hour Energy being the one that piqued my interest) have much higher dosages of certain B vitamins than the RDA. For ex: 5 Hour Energy contains 150% RDA of Niacin (30 mg), 2000% RDA of Vitamin B6 (40 mg), and 8333% RDA of Vitamin B12 (500 mcg). Now I know 5 Hour Energy is overpriced garbage, but why do they include such large doses of these B vitamins? I would imagine these large % over the RDA might scare some people away (even though taking that much of those B vitamins isn't harmful, but I don't know if it's beneficial either), or are they trying to reel people in with these high doses by claiming it gives "extra energy"? Is it actually helpful at all to energy levels?
My first thought is that since Niacin and B6 are water soluble, you would just pee all the extra vitamin out, while the B12, though also being water soluble, gets stored in the liver until the liver doesn't need any more and the rest is excreted. Is this what happens or is there a different thing that happens with megadosing these vitamins?
