That is not my point. His uncle said he would need to see a gun on the dash to pull over a drunk driver. The excuse of I have to catch murderers and rapists first and foremost is bullshit. This cop is a beat cop. The only crime he is solving is where he can hide his patrol car at night and take a nap.

You do realize that it's current policy in Chicago to not respond to non-violent crimes, right? There are signs in some parts of the city, and statements on the news all the time. A friend of mine was told that they would not even respond to a break in if the suspects were already gone. They just don't have enough police for the crime level. It's a shitty situation.
