Lasting effects of DXM?

Hey,

I wanna start dabbling into dissociative drugs, and I figured DXM would be a good start. Cheap, legal, easily accessible, all that stuff. Anyway, I was wondering, I've saw a few posts mention feeling reduced cognitive ability in months after ingesting DXM, and feeling dumber. This is basically all I'm worried about. I want to do drugs, but I don't want to do drugs that will make me stupid. If anyone can provide any negatives that have occurred after DXM, it would be much appreciated. I have already looked in the FAQ and Erowid a little bit, but I didn't really find any satisfactory response.

My chinchilla has never felt any negative after effects following 300mg doses of either freebase powder salted with citric acid or as HBr in cough syrup.

Just don't overdo it, take week or so long breaks between sessions, generally maintain good health and you'll be fine.
