I don't think Animals can sense when you are tripping.

I think its just they know something is up. Think about it. They can probably notice your pupils. You're probably talking way different, and louder then you normally do. Moving around strangely, the big goofy ass smile on you're face. You are not sharing a divine moment with your cat. The cat just thinks you're a dumbass.

While this sounds like it could be true it doesn't mean anything until it's properly tested. This is just like the guy on reddit that said the shape of the penis is evolved to pump out existing semen in a vagina and replace it with your own. And people just said huh that makes sense just because it sounds like it could be true.

Test what, whether or not animals give off visual cues to their state of mind? That's pretty obvious. Hold a treat in front of your dog and see how he reacts. Test complete.

Or do you mean test for the existence of a unknown sense or ESP? I am not refuting the possibility of that. I was simply stating that many of the instances can be explained by simple recognition of visual cues. ESP may very well exist as well. But that does not mean we ignore the simple fact that animals and humans give off visual cues to their state of mind. Telling that a dog needs to pee is pretty easy, especially when your serotonin system is activated and your emotional recognition is heightened.

About the penis thing, I have no idea. Seems silly, but who knows.
