It's not too weird - the fermentation does more than produce alcohol, it also affects the taste. So whilst wine is just fermentated grape juice, non-alcoholic wine isn't just grape juice.

Ohh no, I didn't mean the process was weird. I meant the fact that people want non-alcoholic wine. Much of the subtlety of wine comes from the alcohol content. Without it, I would think the taste would not be as balanced. I am a beer guy myself, and brew my own as well. I never really got into the whole wine thing.
